kathmandu. Many locals in Tajakot Rural Municipality, including those who had never been to health posts and from remote areas, have benefited from the door-to-door health service campaign conducted by the rural municipality.

Chhapkilal Khadka of Ward No. 1 informed that health workers had been visiting houses in the village and providing free treatment and medicines to people. He said that the locals directly benefited from such a service and urged that such a campaign should be conducted once a month.

Dhanaraj Dhakal, head of the Health Department, said that the ward-level door-to-door campaign was conducted according to the rural municipality’s health policy to conduct health examinations, and treatment and collect samples for suspected diseases.

The campaign ensured that healthcare services were provided to all households in all five wards of the rural municipality, benefiting those who could not visit health institutions. Along with patient check-ups, free medicines were also provided, he added.

He informed that 582 patients were treated through the campaign, with samples collected from 35 suspected malaria cases, 150 people tested with RDT and 25 sputum samples collected for tuberculosis.

Every year during this season, malaria patients are observed in the rural municipality. The samples collected from suspected patients were tested in a lab of the health department and some were sent to another province for further testing.
