Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has directed for swift restoration of communication services at Thame village of Solukhumbu district by making alternative arrangement.
A flash flood was caused in the Thame River by the outburst of two small glacial lakes, thereby damaging Thame village of Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 in the district on August 16.
Minister Gurung instructed for communication reset after the people’s representatives reported him about the incident and the area experiencing a disruption in the essential service at touristic village Thame.
The flash flood severely damaged individual and public infrastructures as well as a power house leading to disruption in electricity and telecommunication services among others.
The head-works of the Khumbu Electricity Company got damaged in the flood further exacerbating the disruption of electricity and communication services at ward no 3, 4 and 5 of the rural municipality.
The people’s representatives had drawn the attention of Minister Gurung for the immediate resumption of telephone and internet services by arranging alternative energy.
