Chitwan. A group including Gandaki Village Palika Chairman Deepak Timilsina (SACKAR) has attacked the Editor of www.kalikadainik,com,  Online, Ramesh Regmi, for writing a news story.
The news was published in www.kalikadainik.com, on Thursday under the title “Gandaki Village Palika Chairman Timilsina and PA Gurung filed a complaint with the CIAA on charges of corruption worth more than Rs. 100 million.” The Federation of Nepali Journalists Central Committee (FNJ Nepal) has objected to the attack on journalist Regmi on Friday morning by Municipal Chairman Deepak Timilsina (Sakar), his PA Jeevan Gurung, Tulman Gurung and Ram Prasad Regmi, alleging that he had defamed himself by writing a news story.

In a statement, General Secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Ram Prasad Dahal urged the media to take legal action against those who do not understand the news and said that attacking journalists to cover up mistakes, corruption and wrongdoings is condemnable. General Secretary Dahal also warned that no one’s threats and attacks will stop journalists from writing. The Federation of Nepali Journalists has also urged the concerned government bodies to immediately arrest and bring to justice those who attacked Regmi, a member of the Chitwan branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists and Editor of www.kalikadainik.com,  Online.

Similarly, the Federation of Nepali Journalists(FNJ Chitwan), Chitwan, has also strongly condemned and condemned the attack on the journalist. Rajesh Ghimire, Secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Chitwan branch, issued a press release yesterday and said that attacking a journalist on the basis of writing news is a condemnable and completely irresponsible act. He said that the attack on Regmi, a member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Chitwan branch and Editor of www.kalikadainik.com, Online, while he was going from home to office by blocking his way was a highly condemnable incident.

The statement said that it is extremely sad that a protector of the law like the Municipal Chairman attacked a journalist when he could have gone to legal proceedings if he was not satisfied with the news. There has also been a strong demand to arrest and take immediate action against all four people including the Municipal Chairman who attacked journalist Regmi, provide treatment to the injured journalist, and create an environment for journalists to write news without hindrance.
Similarly, the Chairman of Kalika Broadcasting Network and Editor-in-Chief of www.kalikadainik.com  Online, Shishir Simkhada, also issued a statement yesterday demanding immediate action against those who attacked journalist Regmi, protection of the life and treatment of the injured journalist Regmi, and guarantee of the rule of law.

Similarly, Press Union Chitwan President Anil Dhakal, Press Chautari Nepal Chitwan President Subash Pandit, Press Center Nepal Chitwan President Rajendra Acharya, and Nepal Indigenous Journalists Association Chitwan President Tulman Gurung have issued a joint press statement condemning and condemning the attack on journalists. The statement has asked the concerned bodies to immediately arrest and take action against the municipality president, his PA and his group who attacked the journalists writing news and create an environment for journalists to write news without hindrance.

Journalist Regmi wrote the news on Thursday. Journalist Regmi said that Municipal Chairman Timilsina had called him at night to stop writing the news against him and to remove the news.
While he was going to the online office in Bharatpur on a motorbike from home in the morning, a group of four people, including the Municipal Chairman, stopped journalist Regmi on the road at a place called Dhawadighat, about 2 km from his house, near a bridge. Initially, they asked him to remove the news and when he refused, they attacked him. Journalist Regmi said that he managed to leave his bike and escape during the attack. He said that they even threatened to kill him if he did not remove the news and that he suffered minor injuries on his back. Later, when the locals came to know about it, they stopped the four people who were chasing him. With the help of the locals, he came to Bharatpur and came to the office after receiving general medical treatment.
This afternoon, he has also filed a complaint against the four attackers at the District Police Office, Bharatpur, Chitwan.
The attacker, Municipal Chairman Deepak Timilsina (Sakar), is also a district-level leader of the CPN-Maoist Center, while his PAs Jeevan Gurung, Tulman Gurung, and Ram Prasad Regmi are also municipal-level leaders of the same party.
